Inssaf Ouazran
Inssaf has overcome her fear of change due to moving across multiple countries. She decided to accept this change and use it as motivation and managed to get over the language barrier and stand from the crowd . She plans on going to college and pursuing a degree in a STEM field. According to Inssaf, “stem careers are usually very male-oriented but more women are joining and making a change.” She wants to encourage more women to be in this field, especially women of color. “women are now making power moves into changing our society to who is or was more lenient towards men and their ideas. Women of color have been looked down upon for centuries and underestimated. But now I’m so proud of my fellow POC girls and women who are pursuing their education in this field and making colossal changes to our future.” Ms. Ouazran is currently interning at Johns Hopkins Hospital in the forensic science department which is what she wants to do in the future and in college. “ I am learning about the field by shadowing forensic nurses and forensic pathologists and helping them with their daily tasks, I'm always asking questions and trying to learn all about the field so I can maximize this opportunity”
Daniyah Bazemore
Daniyah has overcome the battle of depression. Depression is one of the biggest obstacles in our generation; it can sneak up on you and have a huge effect on your focus. When asked about the impact that depression had on her she said, “I try not to let my feelings make me unmotivated and shut down completely. It makes it hard for me to complete tasks sometimes, so I have to sit and think about my end goal”. Daniyah wants to become a software engineer, she also wants to have her own salon one day. She plans on majoring in computer science with a minor in business. “ I like solving problems and working for myself” Miss Bazemore is currently taking higher level math classes and running her own hair business. “l will work extremely hard in college to learn as much as possible and take advantage of every opportunity. Once I get the job, I will put my money into my salon.”money into my salon. “ that is short, sweet, and to the point.
Joy has overcome the feeling of not belonging somewhere. She wants other young people to know, “Since I got into college I have had moments where I felt I didn’t belong, but I have learned to change the way I think about the environment I live and learn in.” As Joy is finishing up her freshman year of college, she learned that others' stories are often underrated as she navigates around college and in the world outside. She has learned that everyone has a story to tell, and we need to listen to the stories of other people who have walked in the path that we are trying to strive for. “I believe that stories are the greatest mediums to inspire others to accomplish great things. I have learned a lot from listening to others who walked on this path I am embarking on right now. Their stories have helped me to navigate my way around my college campus and the world outside of it. I am forever grateful for the people who shared their stories with me and hope other youths search for stories to inspire them.” Miss Kogah is currently in a program called Trenton Youth Dancers. Within this program, she is a dance leader, and as a leader, she works with high school students who attend various high schools in the Trenton area. “I want to inspire my community to seek the beauty of listening and learning from other people’s stories because I believe that in doing so.”. not only will figure out how to succeed, but how to tell their stories when they tell.”
